Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Mine expanded too due to the battery expanding. MS says it is a warranty issue. I asked who I am to contact when it starts a fire.

This is a recall issue NOT a warranty issue.

MS gave the option to buy a "new one" - news for you MS...

Bought mine in 2017. Seems like I have exactly the same issue. You saying I should stop using the unit?

Those of us in the UK could try Watchdog, which gets a lot of publicity. I've got the same problem but my SP4 is about 3 yrs 4 months old and they won't change it for free. I'd have to pay £428 for a refurbished model with 90-day warranty. They won't even give you a trade-in discount option. My SP4 cost £2099 new so I expected it to last a lot longer. Very disappointed.

I think, there's a solution but MicroSoft is acting to be blind about it, may be for their commercial deals.

I feel, the battery is the major issue and could always be replaced if MS finds a solution to keep up with their battery vendor.

The SP4, unit as whole is absolutely worth the price, but only the battery is the trouble. Having the replacement batteries made available in bulk at the MS service centers across the world, I'm sure they can immediately nail the issue of swollen battery damaging the product and also the reputation of MicroSoft as the company.

They have known about this problem. Have acknowledged it is a potential time bomb. 

They haven’t done anything about it except charge for replacements. 

They haven’t and they won’t unless this is made newsworthy. The fact that the airlines didn’t ban this hardware as they have with other flammable products is interesting. I wonder what the explanation might be.
