Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

Yes, I've read the multiple posts about this battery problem.  It is unconscionable that MS makes its product to last for only a few years.  For me, buying the Surface Pro 4 barely 3 years ago was my need for something small, tablet-like, easily transported to meetings and on the plane, and with a USB port.  And now, this is turning out to be a really bad consumer choice on my part.  Thanks for feeling our pain, StuartGross.  And, shame on you, Microsoft, for refusing to make your product durable and for caring not a whit about your consumers.

And sadly MHSabq, the not "caring a whit" is the whole point of this community forum where we, the MS product buyers, can get off our chests how pi**ed off we are that we got sucked into buying a crappy product that has not/will not last a good distance when compared with other and even much older products.

We all have old laptops that the battery has died in yet did not expand/explode into the case.  If we could get a replacement the item would work fine, not so in this case and again, MS have just turned a blind eye.

I am no fan of the Apple regime as I hate being locked into "their" way but others have commented on their support being exemplary.  I doubt everyone has that experience but I bet most of us disgruntled Surface users would swap for a service level like that.

I don't use social media either but posting stuff on the MS page would get removed in seconds I bet, so my only choice (and that for many of us) is to walk our wallets and purses elsewhere.

    Redmond you disappoint me immensley

Thanks, I, too just now filed a Report with the Consumer Product Safety Commission.  I expect no help from them either, but at least Microsoft and its conscious disregard for our safety has been reported.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. When I called about it and got the response that I would have to pay $450 to get a refurbished Surface Pro 4, I was shocked. My son was using it for college and it was a great computer until the battery swelled and made it unusable. Sounds like a design flaw to me as well as a fire/shock hazard.

Buy and non-Microsoft device, there is no resolution and Microsoft is not responding.
