when exactly did you buy your SP4 and when did you go to a Microsoft Store and which one?
Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame
I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.
What is causing this and what is a possible solution?
Thanks,
Deepak

2019-12-09T16:46:50+00:00 Well, you got lucky. Microsoft support was stubborn and refused to swap it out for free. I was out of warranty for a month. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and they gave me no slack. ship the computer back at my expense pay then pay 500.00 for a repaired unit, or nothing. The people at the Microsoft store would not even touch the computer said to just get it out of the store and I originally bought it there. nice eh? so.....
I put the 500.00 towards a new surface . I probably should have changed brands, but I like the touch screen and the break apart tablet effect. have all the accessories from the old computer with the fried battery, so I stayed with Microsoft. If this happens again with my new one, they will lose me as a client for sure.
if a Microsoft rep should happen to read this reply....you guys owe me big time! Especially since other people have gotten a FREE replacement computer when theirs was out of warranty and I was treated so shabby. Perhaps if I would have been a man and came at microsoft angry....things may have been different for me. discriminatory remark, yes, I agree, but I'm a woman and in so many ways...its still a "man's world" out there.

2019-12-08T04:26:48+00:00 I'm interested to know if you were in or out of warranty as it reads like it expired last July (2019) and yet they coughed up for a new one. Impressive if that's the case. Having said that they shouldn't be dying after 3 yrs anyway. VERY disappointed with MS especially as I have no MS shop to take it to to complain to a human...

2019-12-08T01:06:41+00:00 It's almost comical how identical our situations are. My SP4 had been getting overwhelmed easily these past 2 months, the fan running rampant, then the 3cm long orange blemish on the lower left quadrant. Then out of nowhere the blemish disappears but that same day I notice the bulge of the left lower quadrant and the screen detaching. I called the support number, the man told me my 3yr warranty expired July of this year, offered me $200 towards a new unit or pay $599 for a SP5. I didnt make a decision at the time. Today I drove to the MS store and the guy who attended me whispered under his breath to the other guy that it could be swapped if I still had warranty. The guy wasn't too talkative, kept to himself, didn't talk to me much nor ask questions. Then he told me he's going to the back to get the replacement. Yay! Walked out with a SP5 replacement free of charge. I am so grateful and I told the guy but again, he's so serious haha. Thank you MS! I truly appreciate it.

2019-11-21T17:38:05+00:00 Just want to update you guys on my case.
So today I contacted Microsoft Technical Support though the Get Help app (based in US/Can I believe) and I get a very genuine and efficient support. I am still waiting from them to reconcile with Microsoft France (where I have to pay for the wrong exchange of the Surface Pro 4, not Surface Pro 5 as they promised).
I recommend if you stumble upon this issue, you may want to go through Get Help first, before contacting your local Microsoft support. (or try different contacts before agreeing to pay).
