Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

If within 3 years of original purchase, they should replace free of charge. If
you ARE within the three year period, call and ask for a supervisor.

Microsoft said don't use it can catch on fire. I am out of warranty, so they  will replace it for $450.00+tax. I paid a lot for this computer and expected it to last for a few more years. They have known about this problem for a time, maybe they should have told us before we were out of warranty. I'm 74 and on Social Security and hoped after paying a lot it would last a little longer.  I  am done with Microsoft.

This thread was so helpful to me that I feel I must add some additional information about my positive experience.  Based on the comments here, I went to the Microsoft store with my two year old, out of warranty, Surface Pro 4 that had the same problem.  The rep said that while my device was out of warranty for this ONE issue Microsoft extended the warranty for three (3) years.  So, if you have this issue and you purchased your device less than three years ago, go directly to the store or call Microsoft for a replacement.

FYI, I purchased my Surface Pro 4 in 2017 and that device is now hard to come by so I was told immediately they will need to give me a Surface Pro 5.  However, after the associate went to get approval from the manager to give me a Surface Pro 5 he came back with a Surface Pro 6 stating that was all they had in stock.  So I got the latest and greatest Surface Pro 6 as a replacement.  The only delay was waiting for them to transfer my data from the old device to the new device.  What a quick and painless process considering I was really worried.

For the people that paid $650 for their replacement, I would suggest going back to Microsoft for a refund.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did go back and requested a refund and was told to go away. I wish i was able to meet with your experience.

In my town there is no microsoft store so i had to do it online.

Lucky you. MS employers are not all the same. The one i struck asked me various questions about my lifestyle and then charged me $650 dollars for my safety issue.

Do some research first.  This would have worked:  "I travel a lot on business and the last airplane trip I made it got so hot I thought it was going to catch on fire"

This would not have worked:  "I overclocked it to 4.25Ghz @1.26V searching for extra intelligence life.  It lasted 14 months, the second one only lasted a week and now  you say I cant have a 3rd one?
