running vmware on my surface book 3

Hi,

I just got my Surface Book 3 and tried to run ubuntu using Vmware, I then got an error message about Credential guard, how can I fix this.

    I bought surface book 3 , 32GB RAM , when i installed OVM(Oracle virtual machine) and tried to install Red Hat flavor linux (RHEL and OEL) its just throwing error and not able to install , reached out to  microsoft support but no luck , later i returned it.I use ovm with RHEL and OEL all the time  , but never had any issue with other windows laptop.

    I have the smae issues. Created a VM form a windows laptop but can not run any of my VM's on my surface book 3. Help is needed please.

    Try these steps (I went through a few before I found something).

    1st create a powershell file and put in this..

    --

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard\Scenarios\HypervisorEnforcedCodeIntegrity]

    "Enabled"=dword:00000000

    --

    2nd put this into a batch file (I can't remember what the story was with it and figured I wouldn't thus why I did it as a 2 step PS and bat setup).

    --

    @echo off

    mountvol X: /s

    copy %WINDIR%\System32\SecConfig.efi X:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\SecConfig.efi /Y

    bcdedit /create {0cb3b571-2f2e-4343-a879-d86a476d7215} /d "DebugTool" /application osloader

    bcdedit /set {0cb3b571-2f2e-4343-a879-d86a476d7215} path "\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\SecConfig.efi"

    bcdedit /set {bootmgr} bootsequence {0cb3b571-2f2e-4343-a879-d86a476d7215}

    bcdedit /set {0cb3b571-2f2e-4343-a879-d86a476d7215} loadoptions DISABLE-LSA-ISO,DISABLE-VBS

    bcdedit /set {0cb3b571-2f2e-4343-a879-d86a476d7215} device partition=X:

    mountvol X: /d

    pause

    --

    It happened to me now, I've just done all this stepts and keeps crashing. Hyper-V and Device Guard are both disabled. And the core isolation disabled.

    No luck so far.

    Janette,

    Thanks for your time.  But I if this setting has not worked then it must be something else.  It would not matter if the VM was Windows or not as the same issue would occur with VMWare Workstation or Pro.
