Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this?
The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

I always considered that SMT and HT were the same thing, but obviously I was wrong.
I hope for an upcoming update in a short time.
I'm sorry that the MS Surface-officials didn't make their contribution in this discussion, because I would consider it appropriate given the bug caused by the MS update.

@ Johnny W Lam: in your case, is the improvement gained by SMT disabling stable and constant?
I have a consumption certainly far from the terrible one of the previous days (before SMT disabling), and I can use the Surface, but, unfortunately, after the first 3 days of use with SMT disabled, my Surface Pro 4 now it starts to consume more and it seems incremental. Probably, the Surface Embedded Controller Firmware (released in august with the call "Firmware 103.2614.257.0") generates an adaptive algorithm for which, after the first days of good operation, it could return to a higer discharging.
I only hope in a near and ready updtate from the MS.

For the time being it has been constant with all machines that I had touched, with the exception of 2x which faced similar behavior after letting Windows rebuild the cache all seemed fine again. You might want to try to clear the cache on your Surface or it is rebuilding in the background which will show a higher consumption of battery for the time being.
My (hopefully) final report:
It seems safe to say that the issue which I originally began this thread for is fully resolved by the latest Insider Preview Release Surface firmware.
If you are not in the Insider program, I'm sure that this firmware will be released to the general public soon.
