Battery drain overnight while shutdown

Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this? 

The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

    While I wait (not holding my breath) for Microsoft to do something I continue to do my own experimenting. 

    While it still seems most likely that the charge reading is just wrong, given that I've observed that I can have my laptop plugged in and fully charged for the entire day, shut it down for 60 seconds, and observe that the charge is shown as 75% when it powers back on, every indication shows that it is charging all the way back up to 100% over the course of time that would be expected if the PC actually had lost a quarter of its power.

    I can't explain that. The battery can't actually have lost all that charge in a matter of seconds, but BatteryBar (a 3rd party application) shows it as recharging for the next 45 minutes?

    It seems the problem solved using the following steps. I did yesterday and the battery didnt drained this morning. However, I'll confirm tomorrow.

    Hey Everyone,

    I posted a possible "fix" on the Surface sub reddit and a couple people have reached out to me and told me it has cured their battery issues.

    Goes a little something like this: 

    1. Go into Device Manager -> Battery-> Uninstall the device driver for the the battery itself and the AC Power Adapter
    2. Immediately after uninstalling the drivers, go ahead and turn your PC off. Make sure its turned completly off (no hibernate, no sleep) for up to 10 hours. Recommended you do Steps 1 and 2 before bed
    3. Upon waking up, use your Surface till the battery hits 0%, letting it turn off by itself
    4. Once you charge your Surface up to 100%, click on the battery indicator Icon and flick it from "Battery Saver" to "Recommended"
    5. Done

    This has worked for people experiencing the following problems: "Battery indicator stuck at 100%", "Battery at 70-75% when I turn my PC on"

    The steps say to uninstall the drivers. At what point do you reinstall them, and how?
