Battery drain overnight while shutdown

Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this?

The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

No such luck for me. Guess I will continue to wait for Microsoft to put out some kind of software fix.

    Hi,

I've done this over the past few days and can confirm it worked for me.

I was having the issue where after closing it down at 100% it would turn on with 75%. Whether it was a few hours or days later.

    I have surface pro 6

    Basically did

    • the disable of drivers on Friday,
    • left it over night on Friday night,
    • drained it yesterday (Saturday) by streaming TV until it turned of itself,

    -recharged to 100%,

    • my battery was already set to recommended so didn't make that change.
    • Then turned it off yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.
    • Just turned it on this morning (Sunday) and still has 100%.

    Happy days

Did you ask them what's the cause of the problem in the first place? If they're confident that they can send you a unit that won't have the issue, they must know what's causing it.
