Battery drain overnight while shutdown

Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this?

The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

    Surface laptop (1st gen) Win10 1803 here:

I followed the steps for the insider preview, updated to 1909, and after testing found the 75% bug still present.

So I rolled back to 1803.

There are no new firmware updates for the surface laptops atm, so I would wait until there is a new firmware update for a true fix. (mine is on 137.2706.768.0 - you can check yours by going to control panel, then 'system information')

My solution was to switch off hibernation:

command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off

I can now shutdown and switch on like before and it works like when I first got it.

Good battery life and the percentage stays the same overnight unplugged.

Obviously it breaks hibernation, but hopefully when a new firmware is released to fix the battery bug, you can reactivate hibernation by going

command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate on

For reference: i could not see any firmware update on the update, it was only “1909 release” single voice. And I got not firmware installation on the booting. Maybe try to uninstall the battery driver? Could be a point

I uninstalled them and realized there was the box to cancel the drivers after having pressed ok... redid it just in case

Btw after posting the first post I did some playing with Geforce Now and right now (1 hour I guess?) i'm at 89%

So seems all good an fine

Why did you uninstall the drivers again? How did you cancel?
