Battery drain overnight while shutdown

Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this? 

The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

The following updates are available for all Surface Laptop 2 devices running Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803 or greater:

    It may be too early to tell yet, but Microsoft sent out Build 18990 and came with the newer Firmware built in.  It has only been less than two days but with testing, have not had a power drop at all.  In fact, ran the machine (Surface Laptop 1st gen) for a little over an hour with general web browsing and email and it only dropped to 93%.

    Not sure if the Firmware is experimental and if is, not available for general download for others.

    Here is the Firmware that was installed:

    Good to know you are testing James 👍, but for current production machines facing the drainage issue, the fix for now is to turn off SMT via UEFI / Firmware Settings, build 1903 - 18362.356 - And from your description it seems back to the baseline norm, As conflict with current firmware does not handle super scaler well.  disable Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) has units that I have tested operating normally as should.

    in my case, with surface pro 4, the deactivation of Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) does not reduce the battery draining (which I have after the August 2019 update, during normal operation and not when the PC is off). From what I understand, it depends on the "Surface Embedded Controller Firmware - Firmware 103.2614.257.0 improves battery performance" update. I hope that a new firmware update will also be released for surface pro 4.

    Once everything is up2date, drain the battery completely and charge until 100% full and test.

    I apologize, I probably haven't explained myself correctly: since I installed that 103.2614.257.0 update, I have battery draining problems. Maybe, I could try to roll back the driver from device manager, but I'm afraid it could make the OS unstable, so I'm waiting for the new update.

I hope that a new official firmware update will also be released for surface pro 4.

    That is good that you are not seeing a perf hit. I just wanted to express the appropriate "disclaimer" that it COULD have an impact.

    There is no performance degradation Barb, I have using it all day with no issues app Producivity & Creative and ADMs functions and battery is performing as it once was, prior to the August update. 

    Understood - I would not post unless tested.  These are all real world production machines that needed a fix ASAP for its users.  But thank you for the acknowledgement.

    Also if you have a Surface that is impacted and not on a insiders build have at it and try, you'll see for yourself.  Try it for validation.
