Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this?
The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

I was willing to try, just to help solve the problem: you did fine to suggest me those tests! Now, I am convinced that the problem is the firmware released in August (which contains Surface Embedded Controller Firmware - Firmware 103.2614.257.0) that has been released to improve battery performance and that, however, has caused battery draining on Surface series. Among the various attempts, I also carried out the rollback to the previous driver of the Surface Embedded Controller Firmware, but it did not improve the battery life: I believe that the Surface Embedded Controller Firmware is "governed" by the "main UEFI firmware" and, therefore, if we will not get new UEFI firmware update, we will obtain none good result. In one hour, my battery arrive to 10% from 100% of charge: it is an unacceptable condition for use! I also tried to disable SMT, but in my Surface Pro 4 it does not improve battery life, I think it is necessary to wait for an update fix from MS.
When you had turn off SMT did you let the battery drain to zero or 4% reserved (Surface turn off by it self) and then charge your battery to 100% / full if not you need to do so, turning off SMT and without re-calibration will not result in instant results.
NOTE: YES THE FIRMWARE is the software that controls the Surface Embedded Controller for further hardware support. Image a Surface without an OS with out Firmware. Firmware (Software to control and support hardware ----> UEFI (Further supports the boot process / process chain) --> OS BOOT.

unfortunately, the installation of the .msi file re-proposes the 103.2614.257.0 update in question and, therefore, I have the same behavior.
I have to wait for new firmware update!
Hey @Jose have you tried the the steps that I had proposed to you as I did for not only my own personal, but also for the Ent. units that I had fixed. The units are a mixture of Personal and Enterprise units non are Win-Insider builds.
Battery Config. = Best Performance with SMT disabled equals "~5-5 1/2 - 6hrs" indicated vs. 3-4hrs real world usage with wifi always connected.
Battery Config. = Better Performance with SMT disabled equals "~6-7 1/2 - 8hrs" indicated vs. 4-5hrs real world usage with wifi always connected.
Battery Config. = Best Battery Life with SMT disabled equals "~8-8.5 - 9.5hrs" indicated vs. 7-8.5hrs real world usage with wifi always connected.
Performance degradation of course will take a hit with Best Battery Life vs Better Perf. with scaled back compute vs. Best Perf. Max CPU fq.
To update: This wasn't a permanent fix. I left it off overnight and woke up to 73% battery
