Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this?
The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

Your "solution" could have dramatic performance implications. Fortunately, it is easy to reverse if anyone encounters it.

I'd REALLY like to see a screen shot of Settings, Updates, Update History with Drivers expanded from your Surface Laptop.
If this experiment works (I have a Pro 3 with RTM 1903), the Firmware should be coming across in Windows Update pretty soon. It may still be too early to give a judgement on it
The Surface machines are unusual compared to other production models and for anybody having to do "hacks" or setting changes to; if it works for you, go for it.
Keep an eye on Windows Update and when more feedback gets back to Microsoft, the Firmware should be going out and you "may" be able to restore your settings back to normal.
An Insider Build is a beta and cannot be relied on to fix general problems.
If 19H2 comes with the Firmware Patch, then Yay! We all have to play the waiting game for now. But some folks they need their machines and for now it is the go to, to keep them productive and mobile while not having to worry about battery and or security.

It may be too early to tell yet, but Microsoft sent out Build 18990 and came with the newer Firmware built in. It has only been less than two days but with testing, have not had a power drop at all. In fact, ran the machine (Surface Laptop 1st gen) for a little over an hour with general web browsing and email and it only dropped to 93%.
Not sure if the Firmware is experimental and if is, not available for general download for others.

Good to know you are testing James 👍, but for current production machines facing the drainage issue, the fix for now is to turn off SMT via UEFI / Firmware Settings, build 1903 - 18362.356 - And from your description it seems back to the baseline norm,
As conflict with current firmware does not handle super scaler well. disable Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) has units that I have tested operating normally as should.
