Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this?
The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

I need some advice from this community regarding how to proceed from here on. I have a Surface Pro 6 and have been facing the same battery problem. I have undergone 2 replacements and the problem still persists.

I have the following questions:
I do not believe that there is any Surface firmware embedded in Insiders Builds. It is separate and should show as a separate download.
Microsoft mostly has this crappy policy of not acknowledging issues (gag order) until they have a fix for the issue in question. Don't know if this is legal, marketing, or what. But it is certainly customer UNfriendly.
I know there is test firmware in Insiders for SP6, but no one has reported firmware for other impacted devices. Those "impacted devices" would seem to include all the Surface SKU's that received firmware in August marked "improves battery performance" in the release history update page for that device.
I've had private acknowledgement a MONTH ago "Regarding the 100% to 75% drain that issue is being investigated by engineering and working on fixing. They are looking at other battery related issues also" and that is all. I cannot get any more info nor can I get anyone from Microsoft to post officially.
There is a possibility that it is the power controller itself. You see, when you shut off a laptop or tablet, they are never really "OFF". Desktop PCs work in a similar fashion as well. As for having a consistent drop, that may be the controller giving a false indicator to the operating system.
After Build 18985 came across, I tested it again and got 0% loss. I am testing it again right now to see if that holds.
This could possibly be a Firmware that Microsoft is working on (built into the latest Insider build) that is being tested and if it works, all those with RTM build 1903 may receive it soon as a Firmware update. My Pro 3 has the RTM build and will be looking at it as well.
Microsoft will not talk about any issue regarding this. There is no mention of it anywhere and is becoming a HUGE category in the Feedback Hub and not just here on the Surface Forum (and you will find well over 100 posts). Just send feedback via the Hub even if it is a new post, maybe someday, Microsoft will finally address the issue and get it fixed.
I don't think that anything is running. There's no indication of that in any of the diagnostics. Also, when it does happen, the power loss is about the name (25%) no matter how long the device is shut down for. Literally no process should be able to drain 25% of the battery when the device has only been shut off for 5 minutes, and also not drain any more than that when it's off for 8 hours. The firmware has to be misreading the charge. Either the battery isn't actually at 75%, or it never charged past 75% in the first place.
