Battery drain overnight while shutdown

Lately, after I shutdown (full shutdown, not sleep or hibernate) my fully charged Surface Laptop 2 at night, I turn it on in the morning and find that the battery has lost around 25% power overnight! What's going on and how can I fix this?

The laptop is only about 6 months old and the battery seems to be in good health.

I know. I believe you. But I'll believe MS only when a definite fix is available.  ;)

I saw also that end of last week some article on this issue appeared on the web, so there is already the web tam tam.

I am also noticing that my Surface battery icon is not showing a charge connector plugged in and not showing the device being charged, instead it acts as if I am using battery only. I guess back to the same problem again.....

About this, I had the exact same issue. I guess also that after you unplug from charger, you do not see the % getting down, but you have to change the power settings to have it updated?

But after this morning fresh installation (actually fresh from 1809 then upgraded to 1903), at least that issue has gone.

See instantly if a charger is plugged and the battery is nicely loosing % as intended.

I suggest you to do a clean install.

Also, OT, this fresh installation fixed some Wifi issues I had too

But the thing is, do we even know the cause of the issues? Who's to say what change could actually help inadvertently. (shrug).
