Surface book: April 2020 firmware updates bricked my device

This morning my surface book downloaded some firmware updates and asked for me to restart my device.

However, after the first restart, I find that the surface book is in a constant restart state. I cannot even force it to shut down or boot the UEFI menu.

This is exactly what it does:

Every 10 seconds or so, it will turn on, show me the "Surface" boot logo, and after 1 second immediately turns off. It does not even reach any Windows boot up sequence.

Could I please get some advice on what to do or how to fix this?

Update: Seems the common factor between everyone who is having the issue is that the secure boot is disabled (I.e. there is a 'red strip' shown with an unlock icon being shown). 

Update 2: I have been told my Microsoft that they believe the fault has nothing to do with them. The high number of people who are in this thread with the exact same issue clearly shows that the fault is NOT ours. We are now looking to take legal action as this forced firmware update caused damage to our devices, for which we require compensation from Microsoft (a fix or a replacement free of charge).

    I’m sure that my Surface Book 1 is bricked. I can get to the UEFI screen but it wont load windows, it won’t reset reboot from USB it won’t reset. It won’t do anything. It just goes back to the UEFI screen. ( 265GB i7 8GB with GPU)

    If you can get to the UEFI settings, then usually this means it is not bricked.

    There should be a way from booting from there. Try changing the boot order in the UEFI settings. If that doesn't work then create a bootable flash drive and see if you can boot into that.

    There were a few times on my surface book 1 where I thought I bricked it because I couldn't exit the UEFI, but I've always worked around it.

    Most people in this forum are those who cannot even get to the UEFI screen at all.

    Thanks! Yeah, I’ve tried all of that. It has the hard drive image in the top right corner of my UEFI screen. Looks as if my SSD is fried. Sorry to hear that you cant even get to the UEFi.

    Ouch - that's a pain.

    I really wish the surface range had a better "reparability" rating. if you had that problem on a normal laptop, replacing the hard drive would be easy.

    Hey RT-XD,

    Me again. Second ever person to report issue on this thread.

    I can confirm SB has been completely drained for months, since last September. I occasionally pressed the power button (never had power hooked up, at all). Tried power button 10 times today, to make sure, powered up for 15mins, tried turning it on - nope - same boot loop.

    I can confirm SB1, with GPU, after April update, is ****.

    Not good after nearly a year that nothing has come of this. If only we could all jump on Linux Tech tips' YouTube channel and convince him to investigate. I'm sure he has hacker friends that could find the issue, even if one of us sent him our laptop - I'd be willing if someone can get a response.
