I love the new SP4 pen, but I've noticed the pen pressure is not consistent. The biggest problem is that paint brush strokes in Photoshop don't taper smoothly when drawing. I tired using the SP4 pen on my Surface Pro 3 and it doesn't have any problem. Here is a screen capture of what I'm talking about.
Since the pen isn't the problem I'm assuming it's a calibration issue with the Surface Pro 4. I downloaded new Wintab drivers to see if that would solve the problem (got the idea from this thread about pen problems).
It's not just Photoshop. The actual Surface pen pressure app has the same problem. It's harder to see because the brush strokes are thinner, but there is a much faster tapering happening than there is on the Surface Pro 3. Here is a screen cap:

As some of you have already noticed, on July 14th, 2016, we released an update to the Surface Touch Driver that should significantly improve the pen tapering and pressure experience that this thread talks about.

Is there any updates on this. I am planning on purchasing a surface pro 4 but I am reluctant due to these pen pressure issues.
Could you please clarify which issues you are resolving. This thread has been about two distinctly different issues. Perhaps they are both tied to pen pressure registration?
I would also like an answer to these questions. I was all set to buy a Surface 4 until I read the issues with the pen.
There are a few good 2-in-1 devices coming out, but the only ones that seems to prioritise delivering good pen performance is the ipad pro, but that runs only on ios and also the cintiq companion 2, which is out of my price range and getting old. The Toshiba dynapad looked promising but is underpowered. The new Samsung tabpro s for some reason ditched the great wacom integration and has been very sparse with details of the new pen.

I have exactly same issue as your.
I tried everything what I can do from Window Update to manufacturing reset. Actually I had a conversation with Answer Desk, I Just followed Answer Desk's advice. The Assistant guaranteed that after resetting it work perfectly fine but it wasn't. I just wasting my time for nothing. Thanks!
If Anyone has this issue, Do not go straight away to Answer Desk otherwise you can waste your time, also do not re-setting your device. I guaranteed that's not working for this =)
Now I finally noticed that I'm not the only one who has this issue!!!
