I have the power settings set to NOT restart when the power is plugged in and NOT to go into sleep mode.
Even with these settings the laptop restarts randomly. I'll be writing code and it restarts. Its random.

We published new improvements and fixes for Surface Laptop 3 that improve device stability. You can get updates now by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. We recommend that you install these updates to keep your Surface performing its best.

I am having the same issue. I purchased my Surface 3 laptop on March 31, and unfortunately I had to exchange it because it had a bent screen. The exchanged device (which I got in the mail only yesterday) is on a restart loop every 30 minutes to 2 hours. I am a teacher, and I can't have my laptop shutting down during classes, which it actually happened twice in one class. I am extremely disappointed because the Surface 3 laptop was to replace my Surface 3, which lasted me 5 years.
I ordered this from the Microsoft store: what can I do to fix this? The glitch is extremely frustrating. Working from home and teaching is already stressful, but with this glitch it is a nightmare.
My laptop does the same thing. I am teaching from home and my laptop will restart in the middle of a class. Microsoft needs to fix this with an update ASAP or I won't be buying any more of their products. My Surface 3 (bought in 2015) worked well up until about a month ago, but my brand new, $1,200 laptop is glitching less than 24 hours out of the box.
Any solution for this? My PC has the same issue, it is random, updates are done, PC is not overloaded at all. Last time I was only on Skype and boom restart. Surface laptop 3 8gb Ryzen. Is this an hardware or software problem?
I'm having the same problem with mine. Have lost work from the restart which is very frustrating. Bought what I thought would be a reliable computer. They need to fix this ASAP.
