I have the power settings set to NOT restart when the power is plugged in and NOT to go into sleep mode.

Even with these settings the laptop restarts randomly. I'll be writing code and it restarts. Its random.

After reading how awesome these products were all over the Internet, I was convinced that there must be something wrong with my device. I returned it to the store, got a new one and the new one works fine. 8 hours, no restarts.  The old one would restart every hour.  Here's the thing, I was so convinced that it was an individual issue that I upgraded from the 13" Intel 8GB to the 15" Ryzen 5, 16GB, much closer to the OP's system!  It's a beautiful device and works flawlessly.

I have the exact same issue with my Surface 3 laptop. Its brand new, less than a week old, and I’m so frustrated with the boot loop every 30 minutes to two hours now 😣

This is really disheartening. I loved my surface pro and it worked so well. I had visual studio on it, Microsoft SQL server Management studio, Photoshop, illustrator, and many other things. It ran flawlessly.

Then I go to upgrade to my new very expensive Microsoft Surface laptop 3 and it's been 6 months since I originally posted about this problem. In fact prior to my post I couldn't find this issue anywhere on the web. When I called Microsoft back in November they had never heard of the problem before. Their only solution was to reformat my machine.

After 6 months I can see that this is still a problem and they haven't resolved it yet.

I really love the direction Microsoft is going and their product design is spot on in my opinion. But I cannot support a product that has an issue like this. Especially one this expensive.

As a programmer myself I understand that there are issues with software and hardware. And sometimes you just have to wait for updates. But 6 months and still no update. Unacceptable...

I am having the same issue as this thread.

I bought a Microsoft Surface a few weeks ago and now I experience random shut downs.

Based off everything I'm reading here, it seems like there is not much for me to gain here.

    Really disappointing.
