I have the power settings set to NOT restart when the power is plugged in and NOT to go into sleep mode.
Even with these settings the laptop restarts randomly. I'll be writing code and it restarts. Its random.

We published new improvements and fixes for Surface Laptop 3 that improve device stability. You can get updates now by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. We recommend that you install these updates to keep your Surface performing its best.

Mine has the Ryzen 5, 16G, 15" screen. The install never helped and they send me 2 replacement. Currently on the 2nd one which doesn't have the restart issue.
Mine was outside the 30 day refund policy so there was no way I could send it back. They sent a replacement which randomly restarted 10 times within the first hour of turning it on and when I stated the windows update. Sent that back and they sent me another replacement. This 2nd one freezes up and blinks a black screen for a few seconds but it stays on and goes back to normal. I have noticed this 2nd replacement screen fades if the power adapter isn't plugged into the laptop. So it always has to stay plugged in. I ran the Surface diagnostics tool kit and it still didn't fix the screen color issue. I think a class action lawsuit needs to happen. Would you be interested?
I took mine back to store for a full refund (while I still had time left on warranty). BUT the good news is the new version of Surface Laptop 4 will soon be available. Supposedly in late March 2021. Hopefully M$ fixed this reboot issue. I really like the 15" form factor.

My wife has the Intel cpu version 13.5". She uses it daily (glued to the screen). No complaints. I checked my 15" amd event viewer and found "event ID 41 critical" but when I looked at her event viewer I did not find anything with ID 41. Im thinking this issue is only with AMD cpu's. Any body have this issue with Intel (before I return my AMD for an Intel version. I work for a big name router company and I can't have my laptop rebooting during a firmware upgrade on their $20k or more router (which might brick it).
