Surface Laptop 3 Restarting Randomly

I have found that using the laptop on the Surface Dock 2 with ETHERNET that the machine seems to be fine.  If I use it on wireless, especially when I do a lot of network-intensive stuff the machine is more prone to reboots.

My SL3 has been connected to ethernet through the Surface Dock 2 since it was released.  As further speculation, I wonder whether there are video driver issues with running 2 27” displays through the USB-C port in daisy chain configuration. That setup rarely works from sleep, and I have to unplug and replug the USB-C cord to wake the monitors most of the time.

I have thought about switching them to the Dock 2 to see if it makes a difference on restarts and monitor waking after hibernation or sleep (I have the setting at no sleep and no hibernation but it ignores me), but I have been hesitant because Dock 2 is very “noisy” when it comes to external audio peripherals (I need it for mix minus return audio for recording I do).

I still remain suspicious that some software mix is generating a video driver crash to cause the restart. Adobe is always my first suspect. That company does shady stuff. The Window shadow chrome was getting switched off by Acrobat when certain tools were used. How can Acrobat be that deep into the video system of Windows? Anyhow, this restart problem may have multiple causes that all trace back to one point, like a driver bug.  It would be nice if this were prioritized my Microsoft for the premium hardware impacted.

Mine has calmed down, but you never know....

All I have gotten from Microsoft on this is ensure Windows Updates are complete and then try building from a clean build again and see what happens - NOT GOOD ENOUGH - enough people have already done this to find nothing changes.  There seems to be a fundamental issue with this machine.

I have the 15” AMD model with close to max specs.  I’ve run scannow and all that nonsense and get a clean bill of health. I get unexpected restarts every few days.  I’m fully updated.  This has interfered with my ability to work from home.  The reliability score on my machine is about 5 out of 10. This is troubling.

I have noticed recently that the restarts seem to occur with Microsoft Word and/or Acrobat DC running.  I just noticed the possible correlation, so I have limited incidents to check my theory against.

My software is fairly simple: Office, some Adobe programs, Firefox, and that’s most of it. I run personal and work Onedrive syncs.

This reatarting needs to be fixed.
