I have the power settings set to NOT restart when the power is plugged in and NOT to go into sleep mode.

Even with these settings the laptop restarts randomly. I'll be writing code and it restarts. Its random.

AMD Ryzen 7 Microsoft Surface Edition 2.30 GHz

16.0 GB RAM

I tried several times to ask support to exchange it for the Intel version and I even said I would pay the difference. No deal. They said they can't process it through their system.

"We checked the case and base on the request that you want to replace your Surface device to deferent processor. We try to process a replacement but it will not go through since our tools will not allow.

The option that we have is a like for like replacement only. I consult to the Repair team and they mention that the best option we can do for this issue is to process a like for like replacement on your Surface device and they assure you will not encounter this issue in the replacement device." Hilarious.

Not sure what the next move it. Class action lawsuit maybe?

I think it's time. Actually even long overdue.  Anyone else want in?

    Thanks,

    Greg

These updates come way after hundreds of the same complaints and still do not resolve the issue. It's clear that these laptops are faulty and no refunds or exchange will be done because of a 60 return policy or 90 day warranty coverage that expires within first year of purchase. The replacement support center sent me (Surface Laptop 3 15", AMD Ryzen 7 Microsoft Surface Edition 2.30 GHz 8.0 GB RAM) had random restart issues WORSE than the original one and I had to send the replacement back. Even after updating with with the latest Windows update in December 2020 plus running the Diagnostics Tool Kit. It randomly restarted DURING the update and running Diagnostics over 10 times within the first hour of use.

This is clearly a processor issue and Microsoft should be replacing our laptops with better processors. I think the best thing to do is go to social media. This is extremely frustrating having spent almost $1800 on a new laptop in March 2020 that had a known issue that even after over a year of the first complaint, Microsoft isn't doing anything to make customers whole and fully satisfied. I've lost work. I've lost time. And since laptops only come with a 1 yr warranty from purchase date at, some point I'm still left with a faulty laptop that I will no longer be able to get support for. This has got to be the worse product experience I've ever had with a laptop.

I either want a refund or a replacement with an Intel processor because this is clearly a major issue your team is unable to fix. RIDICULOUS!!!!

Did this issue get resolved for you?  I just purchased a Surface Laptop 3 with the same specs and it reboots constantly.  Wondering if I should just return it or if you were able to get yours to work. Thanks!

amazon has sent me another laptop with identical same specs which works without random restart till now. fingers crossed
