Surface 3 isn't playing videos

I just received my surface 3 about a week or two. Since then, I've been able to play videos without any problems. Until a few day ago I've noticed that the videos won't play on sites like YouTube, tumblr. If I click on a link, the video will begin to load, and then player will turn black and an error message will display. I havent done any updates recently or installed anything that might be messing with the videos. So I don't know if anyone else has had this issue and may know a way to solve it?

Hi, Clare'

I've been using Microsoft edge and I have tested to see if the videos would play on browsers such as internet explorer nd I was having this issue. I have since done a few updates on my computer and the issue has been resolved. Thank for replying though :)

Hi lynnoliver2228#

Thanks for stopping by the Surface forums!

With a new device the best first step is to ensure you have all the latest updates.  See here.

Assuming you are using the Netflix app you may also consider checking Windows Store to see if you have any apps, i.e. Netflix, have updates available.

If watching videos in the browser, please let us know which one.

Let us know,

Josh

I have yet to see MS respond or acknowledge that this is a problem. I thought that an MS person was watching these posts and would offer help if there was a solution or send this to their engineering group to look at the problem. So far I have not seen this happen.

The issue seems to be in the RealTek chip driver. Some have suggested to change the driver to an Intel driver. I don't think you can do that. I have not seen a way to do that in my investigation of the problem. If it is, MS should tell us how to do it. Or make the change in one of their Windows updates.

OK, thank you for responding. The only solution I have found to date is to delete the driver (but not delete it from the system). Then reboot the Surface.  I posted this a few months ago in this thread. This fix works for a few weeks at best then you need to do it again when it stops working.

I have been hoping for a permanent fix but nothing yet.

OK I think I need a little more detail here. You say to go to the gear on top of Explorer. Which Explorer are you talking about? I looked at Internet Explorer, File Explorer or Edge? You got me, I am not following you.

There are no gear symbols at the top of any of these.

the gear referenced is on the Internet Explorer page, but the solution doesn't really work on a permanent basis. Sorry to have to tell you that.
