Airpods Not connecting property to Surface Pro 10

I can pair my airpods with my Surface book 2 laptop, however they will rapidly connect and disconnect. And when it says "connected", no sound will play through the airpods. I've tried looking up a couple of fixes online but nothing is working.

I had the same exact problem with the Airpods Pro. My problem, as you mentioned, was the the rapid flickering back and forth between Paired andConnectedwith the Airpods ultimately never connecting. 

For me, the solution was to restart the whole process as follows:

  1. Place your Airpods or Airpods Pro back into the case > Close the case > Set the Airpods down. 
  2. On your Surface computer > Settings > Devices
  3. Select Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth
  4. Pickup Airpods Case > Open Airpods case (Don't remove Airpods) > Press/Hold button on back of Airpods case until the Airpods are located by your Surface computer.

Your Surface computer should be able to at least find your Airpods by following the above steps.

Solution:

  1. Go to settings > Type "Device Manager" in the search box.
  2. Once Device Manager is open, select Human Interface Devices
  3. Locate Bluetooth Low Energy GATT complaint HID device > Right-Click >Properties
  4. Select the 5th tab called Power Management
  5. Locate the checkbox "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and UNCHECK this box!
  6. RESTART COMPUTER! *(This is what ultimately fixed my problem)*

I couldn't even find a "Bluetooth Low Energy GATT complaint HID device"  under Human Interface Devices, and any other Bluetooth options in the Device Manager didn't have a power management option. However, when I clicked on "Converted Portable Device Control device properties" under Human Interface Devices, I found the power management option and disabled it. My AirPods are working correctly now. I hope I'm not saying this too soon and that it's not just because I just updated my Surface, but I've had this problem for a long time and updates haven't fixed the problem before. Hopefully this will work for you. It's unfortunate we have to deep dive into our settings to get headphones to connect right.

    I was struggling with this issue and tried all the fixes in here until I realized something. I had my iPhone nearby while trying to make the connection. Every time I would try to connect to my airpods they would go from Paired to Connected them immediately back to Paired. I realized it was my iPhone trying to grab them back. Turning OFF bluetooth on my iphone caused them to go from Paired to Connected (Audio, Voice) on my Surface.

    As of September 17, 2020, if you are running the most recent update of Windows 10, to correct the issue of AirPods constantly disconnecting, follow these steps..

    Device Manager > Bluetooth > Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator > Right Click > Select “Disable Device”

    My AirPods were already paired when I completed the above steps. When I went back into the Bluetooth Devices List, the AirPods connected automatically and said “Connected to Voice and Music.” My AirPods are working fine now.

    Holy ****, i’ve been searching for hours and NOTHING works. There is nog “GATT” there is no powermamagement setting there is no update. I missed 3 classes of med school because of this **** because we need f*cking headphones in the library. I promised my sister she can have this piece of ****, I’m omw to buy a macbook. Totally **** done with anything that has to do with windows. **** YOU WINDOWS, I PAID MORE THAN €1700 FOR THIS PIECE OF JUNK!! WHY DO CUSTOMERS HAVE TO HELP EACHOTER TO FIX YOUR SH*T, INSTEAD OF YOU GUYS MAKING AN UPDATE OR A VIDEO!! WHY IS THERE A POWER MANAGEMENT BUTTON HIDDEN SOMEHWERE FOR HEADPHONES?!!
