I can pair my airpods with my Surface book 2 laptop, however they will rapidly connect and disconnect. And when it says "connected", no sound will play through the airpods. I've tried looking up a couple of fixes online but nothing is working.

I can pair my airpods with my Surface book 2 laptop, however they will rapidly connect and disconnect. And when it says "connected", no sound will play through the airpods. I've tried looking up a couple of fixes online but nothing is working.

I had the same exact problem with the Airpods Pro. My problem, as you mentioned, was the the rapid flickering back and forth between Paired andConnectedwith the Airpods ultimately never connecting.

For me, the solution was to restart the whole process as follows:

  1. Place your Airpods or Airpods Pro back into the case > Close the case > Set the Airpods down.
  2. On your Surface computer > Settings > Devices
  3. Select Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth
  4. Pickup Airpods Case > Open Airpods case (Don't remove Airpods) > Press/Hold button on back of Airpods case until the Airpods are located by your Surface computer.

Your Surface computer should be able to at least find your Airpods by following the above steps.

*This is where I started having the problem stated at the beginning*

Solution:

  1. Go to settings > Type "Device Manager" in the search box.
  2. Once Device Manager is open, select Human Interface Devices
  3. Locate Bluetooth Low Energy GATT complaint HID device > Right-Click >Properties
  4. Select the 5th tab called Power Management
  5. Locate the checkbox "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and UNCHECK this box!
  6. RESTART COMPUTER! *(This is what ultimately fixed my problem)*

Hope this helps! Wish it wasn't this complicated but oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I couldn't even find a "Bluetooth Low Energy GATT complaint HID device"  under Human Interface Devices, and any other Bluetooth options in the Device Manager didn't have a power management option. However, when I clicked on "Converted Portable Device Control device properties" under Human Interface Devices, I found the power management option and disabled it. My AirPods are working correctly now. I hope I'm not saying this too soon and that it's not just because I just updated my Surface, but I've had this problem for a long time and updates haven't fixed the problem before. Hopefully this will work for you. It's unfortunate we have to deep dive into our settings to get headphones to connect right.

Cannot agree with you one bit. mine had:

-wifi issues (took 4 hours to fix with tech support)

-never made updates for 4 months (took 2 days to fix with tech support)

    • recurring bluetooth issues with every bluetooth device. (Every two days we had to trouble shoot)
    • registry issues with pdfs (took 2 hours with tech support)
    • outlook issues with adding and deleting accounts.

These problems were so frequent I almost got fired for not being reliable at work. Because I was always “sneaking off to play around with computer but not do my job”.

I have been traumatized by this terrible computer. I lost sleep because of it. I still PTSD trying to complete tasks in my new one where I think it’s going to happen again and low and behold my new Asus computer has never failed. Ever.

Also, their tech support is awful all they say is I can’t help you for an hour until you scream at them that you are going to sue, and then suddenly they have all the answers.

Also Paul I've noticed that you've also been replying to other comments encouraging them to get rid of their surface.

You sound pretty immature and heavily biased against surface products.

Didn't mean for it to come across as I was having a bias on either company.

I agree that microsoft is the one to blame for this issue, not so much apple.

But I think you're wrong about the Surface Laptops.

Surface Laptops are in my opinion -and many others- the best laptop in the market.

I would choose these laptops over any others due to it's fantastic design and quality.
