Surface Laptop 3 Faint Buzzing Sound

It's actually quite funny - i've been bothered by this buzzing noise for quite a few days now since I first actually noticed it, and I've found that if you connect a mouse (Not sure if it matters, but in this case I use microsoft's precision bluetooth low energy mouse) the buzzing increases when I move the cursor around using the mouse, and also when I move the cursor using the inbuilt trackpad, but NOT if I move the cursor around using the touch display.

So whatever it is it ties in directly with processing input, I also just tried holding the spacebar down as well, and the buzzing noise pulses with each character or "space" point that the cursor moves.

So.. likely a very minute miss in terms of engineering the slightest component. Might even have something to do with the actual aluminum body of the device - it's actually eerily creepy; I have the black all metal version and running my dry finger across the surface of the metal produces a sound not dissimilar to electronic buzzing that you would hear from a distant transformer or a worn in ballast for a tube fluorescent light.

No complaints whatsoever as I couldn't ask for a better product at the price point, I think the only real bothersome or complaint worthy thing i've noticed is that the display is microns or fractions of a millimetre off center, as in I can feel the display overhanging the right hand side of the laptop when in the closed position whereas the left hand side does the opposite. Not sure if this had been done during transport or if I just randomly noticed it.

I run the i5 8gb model, that being said had I purchased the more high end models at the higher pricepoint I would certainly be taking this guy back for some inspection.

My final factor I think will be seeing if the keyboard will stand the test of time - I like black keys, but I hate that after months you can see noticeable wear, whereas my old wired apple keyboard from 2007 still shows no signs of physical wear on the type surface itself, just residual dirt buildup.

Hopefully they hit this one right on the head, there's so much untapped potential in these machines that I can only just think of off of the top of my head, hopefully it follows through :)

Laptop def gets HOT (not warm, not slightly warm) when charging - No applications, media, any updates, scanning  currently running. room temperature 20 Degrees Celsius

Cannot operate it comfortably on your lap when charging - This i believe most of the reviewers on YouTube or Microsoft chose not discuss ? i haven't watched them all - Even Samsung phones gets uncomfortably warm when quick charging - so this may be something we have to live with. 

Small electricity voltage noise if you put your ear very very close to the exhaust - may be just me, someone can test and  let me know. (Not a big complaint, but def weird from a premium product). after laptop reached to 34% from 7%

Noise comes and goes - I recorded the audio, may be the reason for the heating

I have the same problem.  I bought 13.5 inch, 256Gb / 16Gb  i7, black. Wonder is it a hardware issue or software issue?

Same thing here. But, as I put the laptop onto sleep mode, it makes the same buzzing sound you described. But as soon as you press any button or touch the touchpad, it makes a loud pop sound, as if there were something being crushed inside of it. Also I have been frequently noticing BSOD happening when I start up the laptop. Other than that, it is a good laptop but I want to know how to get these weird defects to stop.

I think the truth of it is this is flaw is just something the design team thought would be negligible. It was consistent across my three laptops and apparently 204 (at time of writing) others at minimum. I think the only possible solution is live with it or return it. 

My guess is this is not an error, but a calculated decision that would be too expensive to fix for the small demographic of people who are in quiet enough work environments with sensitive enough ears to notice.

They are willing to accept exchanges (over and over) and refund it, so in my opinion their customer service is fine. It’s just too bad their product isn’t quite up to the standard that their reputation and price points would lead you to expect.
