Hello,
I’ve got the i5 8GB Surface Laptop 3 (13.5-inch), and today, while browsing the internet, I noticed a fairly faint buzzing sound coming from under the keyboard. It was faint enough you couldn’t hear it from a couple metres away, and sometimes buzzed continuously, other times buzzed in short repetitive bursts.
It didn’t sound like the fan to me, so I opened up the task manager to see if browsing was straining the computer in some way.
I have updated the computer completely, but the buzzing persisted.
Is this a normal electronics problem? Is it actually just the fan? Or is it possibly a defective unit?
Edit/Update:
I took the device into the MS Store today to see if there was something wrong. The staff took it into the back and tested it. They found increasing the computer's workload caused the sound to increase and described it as a popping static-y sound. They replaced the device and I have a new one now. Unfortunately, I've found through usage that this one is also making the sound. I am waiting to see if a firmware update reduces the noise since it seems pervasive across the devices.

2021-03-19T16:19:50+00:00 I doubt it as this seems to be a hardware issue in my opinion. Regardless, this thread has numerous people experiencing the same problem and I think something needs to be done. None of us should have to be paying Macbook prices for faulty devices produced by Microsoft. There's got to be something with FCC regulations or health and safety standards. Perhaps we can do a class action lawsuit? Any other suggestions?

2021-03-19T13:53:47+00:00 I also have this issue, I used to only notice it when plugged in, but now observe that the issue is common when under normal usage. I also have the issue where the fans turn on when plugged into the 1st generation surface dock. Hopefully the issue with the buzzing can be fixed through an update.

2021-03-18T16:29:03+00:00 Hey! This is a new solution for me as well, so I don't really have any specific info on the battery side. But so far so good!
The best part is that there's no need to sign-in, it is enough to install the app, allow it to run upon Windows start, and that's it.
Once you start the device, login page comes up, you click "x", and you're good to go.
It hepls me, maybe it can help others, too, but I certainly don't have any connection with ringcentral :)
