Surface Laptop 3 Faint Buzzing Sound

Hello,

I’ve got the i5 8GB Surface Laptop 3 (13.5-inch), and today, while browsing the internet, I noticed a fairly faint  buzzing sound coming from under the keyboard. It was faint enough you couldn’t hear it from a couple metres away, and sometimes buzzed continuously, other times buzzed in short repetitive bursts.

It didn’t sound like the fan to me, so I opened up the task manager to see if browsing was straining the computer in some way.

I have updated the computer completely, but the buzzing persisted.

Is this a normal electronics problem? Is it actually just the fan? Or is it possibly a defective unit?

Edit/Update:

I took the device into the MS Store today to see if there was something wrong. The staff took it into the back and tested it. They found increasing the computer's workload caused the sound to increase and described it as a popping static-y sound. They replaced the device and I have a new one now. Unfortunately, I've found through usage that this one is also making the sound. I am waiting to see if a firmware update reduces the noise since it seems pervasive across the devices.

Thank you. But what is the difference between the two drivers?

Use SurfaceLaptop3_Win10_18362_20.010.3582.0.msi (won't fix the buzzing issue)
    if you need drivers.

Is there any fix or solution from Microsoft? This product already launched for more than 6 months.

Good evening. My Windows is 1909 (18363.815) and I had to format my Surface Laptop 3. I need to download the drivers and on the Microsoft website I have two options:

    SurfaceLaptop3_Win10_18362_20.010.3582.0.msi

    SurfaceLaptop3_Win10_17763_20.020.4371.0.msi

Which one should I choose? Can anybody help me?

    hey folks!

I have followed this thread and this annoying issue for quite a long time before and I did try all the suggestions and workarounds mentioned in this thread and none of them work for me.

However, I have a new update today and it might be a good news. Last week, I updated my windows (setting > windows update) as usual and I didn't expect it could fix the issue at all. After completing the update and restarting windows, I can notice immediately that the buzzing fan sound is gone. It's completely gone. At first, I found it was really weird comparing to the crazy buzzing sound previously. So I keep observing the issue for more than a week until now I can tell that the issue somehow is much better than before. I no longer notice the buzzing fan sound or over heating issue (with normal load e.g 30 edge tabs and 4-5 office apps open and 3-4 chat apps are running simultaneously). I really hope this could be the fix that we all are waiting for long time.

Please do update your windows to latest version and let me know your feedback on this.

I checked the windows update and this is the latest update I did: Successfully installed on ‎04/‎22/‎2020
