Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140
Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I don't think it's random, though. I think it happens when the computer needs to use the dGPU. I'm running a 13" SB2 i7 512ssd 16gb ram and nvidia 1050. I'm a photographer. Every time I attempt to edit something in Photoshop that requires the use of the dGPU, the disconnect sound chimes and the part of my screen showing the layer pallet turns all white, I've had the Task manager opened and noticed that this generally happens when the dGPU starts to show use- then the screen blanks, the dGPU is gone from the performance tab and what I described above happens.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (both through windows update and using the nvidia experience hub) but the problem persists. This is a serious issue and needs an immediate fix. I can't roll back to 1809 because that option is not available in the system menu. It says it's been too long.
Anyone find a solution yet?
return back to 1809,it's the best way to fix it.
Good morning,
My Surface Book 2 15" updated to Windows 10 Pro, version 1903, build 18362.207 yesterday. Ever since, I have had various issues.
The first major one was having my discrete GTX 1060 randomly disappear while it was under load, resulting in a software crash. After the crash, I would not be able to find the GTX 1060 in the Device Manager, but it would appear and reconnect after clicking "Scan for Hardware Changes." Looking in the Event Viewer, I can find an Error stating "The GPU has been disconnected and this application may become unresponsive." with the error code being listed as 10. I tried updating the driver through the device manager, which stated that I had the most current software. I rebooted the system and restarted the software. 15 minutes later, it happened again.
I went to the NVIDIA website and downloaded the most current drivers from them directly (driver date 5/22/2019). Still had the same problem. Moving forward, I changed the NVIDIA settings for the CAD program to use the integrated graphics so that I could at least finish my work.
I then opened up a pre-visualization software that also utilizes the discrete GPU. I was able to work for a little longer, but ended up getting a BSOD with error code VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE on nvlddmkm.sys. I still had the CAD software open at the time, so I rebooted and only opened the pre-vis software. In the Task Manager, the software was supposedly using GPU Engine 0 (integrated), but under the Performance tab the system was showing a lot of strain on GPU 1 (discrete) though no processes were supposedly using it.
After another 15 minutes I got a BSOD with an error code of DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.
Any ideas as to what might be going on? I have minidumps ready to send off once I figure out where to send them.
