Surface Book 2 GPU Driver disappears randomly after May 2019 update

Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140

Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

can you provide step by step how to recreate the issue? that is all engineering

    will look at.

    1. Power on Surface Book 2
    2. Open any 3D/graphics intensive program. I recommend 3D Studio Max as I have 100% repo rate with this.
    3. Interact with viewports. Hardware disconnection sound will play.

    Reproducing this issue is simple:

HW: Surface Book 2, 15", Core i7-8650U with Intel UHD 620 and GTX 1050

    Software: Windows 10 1903, Build 18362.175

All latests official MS drivers (Firmware, etc.)

    Intel GPU driver version: 25.20.100.6472

nvidia Driver version: 26.21.14.3097 (hotfix for 1903),

Same behavior with any driver version, including the latest official driver released by MS. Clean reinstall of drivers did not change the issue.

1.) Boot PC and make sure you are in a power mode (e.g. High Performance) that will lead to the dGPU being used.

2.) Use Device Manager and make sure dGPU is shown in graphics adapters list. If not, click detect new or changed HW to make it show up.

3.) Start any GPU-heavy software (game, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, etc.). The HW disconnect sound is played and the application will crash. The dGPU disappeared in the device manager.

In my case, any attempt to encode a video in Premiere Pro with HW acceleration will instantly disconnect the dGPU every single time, in the moment when the encoding starts. The same is true if I start Lightroom Classic or Adobe Illustrator.
