Surface Book 2 GPU Driver disappears randomly after May 2019 update

Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140

Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

There are some updates that were pushed to PRODUCTION today https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4055398/surface-book-2-update-history You do NOT need to join Insiders to get these.

October 2019 updates

The following updates are available for all Surface Book 2 devices running Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803 or greater:

    Guys maybe I found on my own a workaround for the GPU disconnections and BSOD on Windows 1903 release. It's 2+ weeks I'm working on my Surface Book 2 without BSOD with this setting, so I share it here hoping it will work for you too. 

    Just to be clear, the following is not a fix, it can be a workaround in case it works. 

    I strongly think that an updated GPU driver with the real fix MUST be released very quickly from Microsoft/Surface team, nVidia doesn't provide support or drivers for devices that are released with Certified GPU drivers, like Surface Book and it's not acceptable that the latest Certified GPU driver is more than 1 year old: many professional softwares that need the dGPU don't work well with such an old driver.

    Here are the steps, I'm using both the nVidia and Intel GPU driver provided by Windows Update:

    1. Install Geforce Experience from nVidia, this will enable a basic version of nVidia Control Panel;
    2. Open nVidia Control Panel, go to 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings then select the tab Program Settings and from the dropdown menu select the program that makes the GPU crashing;
    3. Scroll down the list of settings and set Power Management Mode to Prefer maximum performance then save;
    4. Repeat the setting for all the programs that trigger GPU disconnection and BSOD;
    5. Run those programs and test for BSOD and disconnections;

    Alright, when Microsoft fails the community has to step in. 

    I found a solution, suggested by user magchild on this Reddit thread:

    The GPU power management is to blame. The solution is to install the latest Nvidia driver 430.86 INCLUDING GeForce Experience. After the setup finishes, you need to enter the Nvidia Control Panel and set the Power Priority on the Nvidia Card in the tab "3D settings" to "Prefer maximum Performance".

    With this, I can run Premiere Pro using the GPU without the GPU disconnecting.

    Hope this solves your issues as well.

    the same happens with me too. gpu disappears after some time and my software gets crashed because of that so I need a fix for this as fast as possible.
