Pen works fine when only the pen is making contact with the screen. However, when my palm is resting on the screen, the pressure detection of the pen becomes extremely inaccurate. As soon as skin (palm, fingers, etc) makes contact with the screen, the pressure curve of the pen becomes a staircase, as if the pen could only detect 5-20 levels of pressure, instead of 4096 like it's supposed to. Hi, is this happening both on battery and PSU is plugged in? Would it be possible for you to visit Microsoft Store to have our Technician there reproduce the issue since our Surface Pro 7 and Version 4 Pen here had no issues and looks good in writing.

I have tried it with and without AC power. The bug persists either way. Also, having accessories attached doesn't seem to change anything. I did try without the keyboard attached — that's how I normally draw. I also purchased a new battery for the pen. This did not make any discernible difference. I went to a store and tried my pen on a Surface Pro 6. It worked on it without any issues. They did not have a Surface Pro 7 on display, so I couldn't test it on one of those. They also didn't have a Surface Pen on display, so I couldn't test another pen on my device. I don't know where I could find a store that would have a SP7 on display.

Both on battery and when plugged in, yes. My closest Microsoft Store is 32½ hours away by car, in another country. I live in Finland. It looks okay in writing, because there is little pressure modulation with that. But, when painting with a brush that makes full use of pressure, it looks awful. It's best demonstrated in the Surface app, in the pen section: click advanced and then draw in the test box. The curve is smooth when my palm is not touching the screen, but looks like a staircase when the palm is touch it. I tested the same pen on a Surface Pro 6, and the current pressure curve looked smooth on it regardless of whether my palm touched the screen.
