I wanted to update that I monkeyed around with the sleep settings, and so far it seems to have helped with random shutdowns. I tried "never" and the battery heated up and the system froze and wouldn't turn off. I let the battery run out, and then all was fine. I now have the sleep and screen settings at "1-hour" and the network setting at "never." Battery doesn't last as long, and I may try reducing the 1-hour setting, but hasn't randomly shutdown since. Fingers crossed.
New Surface Pro 7 shutting down randomly
I'm tired of all these issues now. At first, a few days ago, I was working on this laptop and it shut down randomly. I switched it on, but again it shut down randomly. In 20 minutes, this happened thrice. I tried something, and then it worked fine for a day. Then today again, it is happening. The diagnostic kit says there's nothing wrong. Please help.

2020-05-06T20:31:53+00:00 Hi All,
YEP! Same issue here, bought my Surface Pro 7 last week and soon as its off power to battery only it randomly powers off, over and over again.
Like someone else said in this forum, if I am constantly working on the surface (when off power) it is fine, but as soon as I stop actively working on it within a short period of time (minutes) it will power off.
I have done all the Windows updates, and followed the tips to turn this and that setting off blah blah etc.
I am sure I am not the only one who has done research on this and can see that this exact issue has been plaguing the surface since 2015 - I have read all of these threads here and still no solution from Microsoft.
No help from me here I am afraid, and like some others here I wish I had have known this before buying!

2020-05-05T13:39:34+00:00 Same issue with my Surface 7, bought it a couple days back. Seems like it is a persistent issue among surface devices. Saved up to jump on the surface bandwagon finally and I am bogged down by such an issue. Microsoft pls help :(

2020-05-05T13:35:27+00:00 I am in the middle of a technical support process with MS, which I urge you to do it. We have tried almost everything, including the reinstallation of the operating system. So far, I still have the problem, but one thing "improved" my Surface behavior, meaning the battery lasts more time until this random problem begins. To my surprise, the Screen Device Drive wasn't updated even though it was installed. So, try updating but using the drivers installed in the computer option.

2020-05-05T03:12:39+00:00 I bought a Surface Pro 7 two weeks ago. From the start, it has been shutting down randomly, and freezing randomly, too. I have the latest updates. I know I can reboot, and restore the pages. Not the point. I hear this is an issue with the SurfacePro 7. What is the solution? What is Microsoft doing to solve this bug? This is too expensive a machine to have this kind of problem. When is the fix due to come out?
Unfortunately no one at Mircosoft is listening. I have tried reaching them Several time. Due to the pandemic the stores are closed. I created a ticket to avail the warranty and surprisingly Mircosoft closed it saying that the machine is repaired. Do not know what to do. Very unfortunate never expected this from Microsoft.
