sound keeps muting

I was listening to a song on the tablet and then went back to the start page to do something else and all of a sudden I thought my song stopped playing but it hadn't. The sound muted itself.

Then I set up the tablet so I could view my facebook pictures on the tablet. As I was looking at them, I noticed it also showed some videos I uploaded to facebook so I wanted to see what they looked like on the tablet but there was no sound. I thought it was because they were from facebook but I checked the speaker and noticed the sound got muted again.

Why does this happen and is it suppose to happen?

Greetings everyone,

Regarding the issue of having the sound mute randomly, and in TH IT's case, unmute, please get in touch with the Surface Technical Support to exchange the Touch / Type Cover. We're still investigating the issue, however it appears that the cover may be the issue.

You can do the exchange yourself here: http://myservice.surface.com or by contacting our Technical support team here: http://www.microsoft.com/surface/support/contact-us/.

Please let us know if the exchanged Touch Cover / Type Cover resolves the issue for you.

Well, the chat rep wouldn't even do anything to help me without my doing a refresh first, so now I guess I'm just going to have to sit and wait for it to happen again.

Just gave them a call. Was told replacing the cover does nothing.

Given instructions to go to device manager and remove touch cover driver. Then hit refresh and reinstall the driver.

If that does not work I was told to reset the device and starting over.

If that does not work I sm to wait for an updated driver.

As for other options I was told to contact the microsoft store if I wanted to return the surface I would have to ship it back to them at my own cosy since Im Canadian and theres no Microsoft store bear me in Calgary.

    Disappomted to say the least...

Will give the above steps ago when Im home from work... But reseting the object how inconvenient!

Resetting is not a fix from my experience it is a driver issue as I can replicate it and it happens every time the device either goes to sleep and I wake it up with the touch cover or when the device dims before sleep and I again use the touch cover some people are saying it happens when they touch the screen so it may be that its just a case of the error kicks in when waking the device with the cover attached
