sound keeps muting

I was listening to a song on the tablet and then went back to the start page to do something else and all of a sudden I thought my song stopped playing but it hadn't. The sound muted itself.

Then I set up the tablet so I could view my facebook pictures on the tablet. As I was looking at them, I noticed it also showed some videos I uploaded to facebook so I wanted to see what they looked like on the tablet but there was no sound. I thought it was because they were from facebook but I checked the speaker and noticed the sound got muted again.

Why does this happen and is it suppose to happen?

Greetings everyone,

Regarding the issue of having the sound mute randomly, and in TH IT's case, unmute, please get in touch with the Surface Technical Support to exchange the Touch / Type Cover. We're still investigating the issue, however it appears that the cover may be the issue.

You can do the exchange yourself here: http://myservice.surface.com or by contacting our Technical support team here: http://www.microsoft.com/surface/support/contact-us/.

Please let us know if the exchanged Touch Cover / Type Cover resolves the issue for you.

All up to date here and problem still present, pleased you're looking in to it.

It's difficult to tell if its a hardware of software issue to be honest but as it doesn't seem to happen without the keyboard attached or when the keyboard is folded back / inactive we can only assume its related to that. I've had it mute and unmute but because I prefer the sound on it obviously mutes most of the time.

Your developers will probably need to find a surface that has the problem and monitor the keyboard signals. If they find a small \ short connection spike that causes the issue then hopefully it can be filtered just for this key / scan code without needing a full product recall.

There are some other issues discussed in another thread regarding the touch keyboard related to drivers not loading when connected on occasion - it would be great if these could be patched together.

So far... fantastic product with a few launch bugs to iron out, keep up on customer communication and bug fixing and Microsoft is on to a winner!

    Best of luck

Same here - only the Windows Defender update which (obviously) did not help the random mute issue.
