Surface Duo - Fingerprint reader not working

Any idea how to get the fingerprint reader working? Out the box the fingerprint sensor below the power button is not registering fingerprints. Perhaps the sensor is a dud. I tried restarting...powering down...powering up...nothing seems to work.

    Same problem with me.

    First it said hardware not available.

    After reboot I don't see finger print option itself.

    Please suggest me some solution

    You can be happy if it's only the fingerprint reader. Mine started a few hours ago to show "hardware nor available".  After the second attempt with the PIN the right screen is green. I've been shocked to have lost every thing. But as it has become more dark outside I saw behind the green that there is still the login screen - nearly invisible, but it works still. I did save now everything from the phone and hope to get a message from the seller soon to get it replaced.
