Surface Duo - Fingerprint reader not working

Any idea how to get the fingerprint reader working? Out the box the fingerprint sensor below the power button is not registering fingerprints. Perhaps the sensor is a dud. I tried restarting...powering down...powering up...nothing seems to work.

    How are you able to get in touch with Microsoft I can't seem to get anybody in customer service or find any links to customer service that are helpful with this issue

    Hi, I returned the defective device back to Microsoft and purchased a replacement device. So far no issues with the new device.

    My girlfriends Surface Duo fingerprint sensor stopped working as well and the fingerprint menu item was no longer in the settings menu. I did several restarts and it did not cure it. After taking a closer look, there is a small crack in the sensor. I know that people always say that they are careful, but I know that my girlfriend is very careful with hers. There is no physical "damage" to the unit.
