Surface Book w/ new Dock. Dock fails after a time and requires reboot of Surface Book.

I've got a new Dock connected to a Surface Book.  The dock has several USB devices connected, a LAN Ethernet cable, and a DP monitor.  The dock works fine for a time after boot; however, connectivity to the dock begins to bounce.  The USB devices and monitor disconnect/reconnect rapidly.  Removing and reapplying power to the dock has no positive effect.  Disconnecting/reconnecting the connector from the surface also has no positive effect.  The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book.  After a reboot the dock functions as expected for a time, and then the process starts all over.

All of the Windows updates have been applied.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Blake

After booting up with the hub plugged in, I just went into device manager and clicked on every USB hub in the device manager, unchecking the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option on every node under the USB section that had that option.

That seems to have addressed the issue for all day today.  I don't know which ones I might be able to re-check, but I'm thinking of disconnecting the dock and rechecking anything that is left.

I'll try this, but my drivers go down while I'm actively using it.  Let us know if it fixes the issue longer term.

First you must plug the dock in with the surface book *off*, or reboot with the dock plugged in.  If you follow my steps right after rebooting or booting up with the dock plugged in, you should have enough stable time to go through them all.  It only gets unstable after it tried to sleep with the dock plugged in.

I have the same symptoms and now the dock is DEAD.

I have been using it for 2 months connected to a surface book. It started misbehaving after about 1 month and gradually became worse and worse until today when it stopped charging permanently.

I phoned the Microsoft Store where I purchased the system and after being screwed around for an hour the poor guy finally admitted he could not help me because hi support software was not working.

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you for sharing your feedback and questions with the community.  I'm hoping you can help me gather more information relating to Windows detecting/not detecting ("bouncing") USB devices plugged into the Surface Dock.

I am looking for details on the types of USB devices connected to the Surface Dock.  If known, please include the USB standard (2.0/3.0) for the connected USB devices.

    Thanks,

    Josh

Logitech M500 corded mouse, USB 2.0 low speed.

Logitech K740 keyboard USB 2.0 full speed.

These were the only two USB devices in use at the time of the bouncing.  I have curretnly worked around the bouncing by disabling the "allow the computer to turn off this device to conserve power" option outlined in my post above, but that is not ideal, obviously.
