Surface Book w/ new Dock. Dock fails after a time and requires reboot of Surface Book.

I've got a new Dock connected to a Surface Book.  The dock has several USB devices connected, a LAN Ethernet cable, and a DP monitor.  The dock works fine for a time after boot; however, connectivity to the dock begins to bounce.  The USB devices and monitor disconnect/reconnect rapidly.  Removing and reapplying power to the dock has no positive effect.  Disconnecting/reconnecting the connector from the surface also has no positive effect.  The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book.  After a reboot the dock functions as expected for a time, and then the process starts all over.

All of the Windows updates have been applied.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    It appears that Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3105210) might have fixed my dock problems.  I haven't had any stability issues with disconnecting/connecting my dock since this update was installed.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't a false positive.

    Hmm. Hasn't fixed mine.

    Try detaching the screen while docked then re-attach and check the battery indicator in the status bar. Is your Surface Book charging? Or using battery power (even though the charging light is on)?

    You are correct.  If you disconnect the tablet from the base while the base is connected to the dock, when you reconnect the tablet to the base, the SB does stay on battery power.  I imagine that will be fixed in another update.  I'm just happy my USB devices and monitor are stable.  I can handle disconnecting/reconnecting the dock connector when I reattach the tablet to the base.  Before I had to actually reboot the machine to stabilize the dock.

    This is the exact problem that I have. 

    Surface book + dock

    Occasionally (seems like about every 10-15 minutes just now) everything connected to the dock will disconnect and then reconnect. When this happens:

    • USB mouse (connected directly by wire) LED light goes off
    • Mouse and keyboard stop working
    • Audio stops

    When it reconnects, the "reconnect" sound plays, and things come back

    Beyond these symptoms, no external monitors are working no matter which combination of ports I use (have used DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA via adapters to the mini DisplayPort). I can get VGA adapter to drive a second display when it's plugged in directly to the Book but not the Dock.

    I have also seen similar behavior when using the USB port directly from the book to drive an Asus USB display. It works for a few minutes, then the disconnect/reconnect keeps power but the result is that the display is frozen from then on. 

    So this is not exactly working for me as a dock, I have to say.
