Surface Book w/ new Dock. Dock fails after a time and requires reboot of Surface Book.

I've got a new Dock connected to a Surface Book.  The dock has several USB devices connected, a LAN Ethernet cable, and a DP monitor.  The dock works fine for a time after boot; however, connectivity to the dock begins to bounce.  The USB devices and monitor disconnect/reconnect rapidly.  Removing and reapplying power to the dock has no positive effect.  Disconnecting/reconnecting the connector from the surface also has no positive effect.  The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book.  After a reboot the dock functions as expected for a time, and then the process starts all over.

All of the Windows updates have been applied.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Blake

    My issue is fixed!

    History:

-I've had this issue since I got the devices in December.

-Chatted with Microsoft support. They swore it was the dock itself and sent me a knew one. Same issue with the new one.

-Last week I did TWO things and one of them seems to have fixed it. 1) I ran "Method 1" solution from the below Microsoft Answers thread. 2) I ran the 2/17 updates Windows and Surface firmware updates.

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_10-networking/windows-10-usb-device-disconnects-and-reconnects/7b93eabd-0ea3-444e-8671-1f5dcf460fc0?auth=1&rtAction=1456338197053

I don't know which of the two items fixed it. If it was item 2 I don't know if the issue was related to Surface firmware or a broader Windows 10 issue. But the bottom line is that this was an almost daily issue for me. SO frustrating! Now both docks have been working flawlessly for over a week. Such a relief! Going forward, Microsoft has to do better debugging these things BEFORE they become available for sale, but props to them for at least staying with it and fixing this. I'm sure they're learning from it.

Any word on whether the 2/17/2016 firmware update addressed this issue? Can't believe MS is still peddling these beta docks to the public.

Yup, we're having the same issues here as well.  We bought 3 Surface Docks (Lot #1541 and Lot #1543).

It'll reconnect / disconnect intermittently until a reboot of the Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book.  It's utterly disappointing and irritating.  It defeats the purpose of having a dock!!

Also, I haven't even mentioned the resolution and display resizing problems.

Not sure what is going on...

New Surface Book owner -- looks like I've joined the club. I have an i7/512Go/16G RAM and a dock (lot 1541.) All updates applied. The dock is hooked mDP->DP to an external monitor (Dell U3014), Gigbit Ethernet and a Logitech wireless trackball. If I hot-dock the book and let it go to sleep and then wake it up (1) it seems to stop charging and the battery will drain to zero (2) icons on the desktop will start flashing -- both on the remote display and on the Surface Book display (3) the external monitor will go black from time to time.

I'm not using it for anything particularly challenging at this time -- just running a word processor (Scrivener,) One Note and the browser. But the plan is to have this running Adobe video editing software in the field next month, which should stress all parts of the system so it would be nice if I could depend on it.

    An update from my end:

Yesterday I went to my local Microsoft Store and got the docking station replaced with a new one. My old lot # was 1540, the new one is lot # 1550. It worked great all day yesterday. This included detaching my Surface to go to meetings and sitting back down at my desk multiple times with no strange disconnects.

Tonight, I sat back down at my desk, plugged in my hibernating Surface to the dock, and turned it on. Immediately my USB mouse in the dock started bouncing like crazy (disconnecting and reconnecting about 3-4 times per 10 second interval). Replugging the mouse or dock did nothing to solve this, I was only able to fix it by restarting the Surface.

I have not been able to replicate the problem in the past 20 minutes. If I keep seeing the issue occurring, the next step is to do a reset on my PC (which I really don't want to do because getting it set up basically kills an entire day).
