Surface Book w/ new Dock. Dock fails after a time and requires reboot of Surface Book.

I've got a new Dock connected to a Surface Book.  The dock has several USB devices connected, a LAN Ethernet cable, and a DP monitor.  The dock works fine for a time after boot; however, connectivity to the dock begins to bounce.  The USB devices and monitor disconnect/reconnect rapidly.  Removing and reapplying power to the dock has no positive effect.  Disconnecting/reconnecting the connector from the surface also has no positive effect.  The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book.  After a reboot the dock functions as expected for a time, and then the process starts all over.

All of the Windows updates have been applied.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    I have the exact same issue.

    I thought it was a problem with the dock, but same thing with a new one.

    I've noticed that USB and network disconnects/reconnects when the surfacebook is heating.

    Example :

    Programs lounched :

    • Outlook
    • Google Chrome
    • Sublime text

    I launch Photoshop, the fans begins to speed up (I hear them clearly), and here begins the disconnect/reconnect.

    After the photoshop startup, fans slow down, and the disconnect/reconnect stops...

    I think it's a overheating problem with the surfacebook, who disconnects the dock connector, without any solution...

    Following that, it's normal that disconnecting the dock and working directly on the surface resolves all problems...

    We've been complaining about this since it launched a year and 5 months ago. Pretty clear at this point this is a design flaw in the power management hardware that cannot be fixed with a firmware update. Just have to use powered USB hubs instead of, or in addition to, the dock, or swap it out for a laptop that was tested properly before launch.

    A solution that works for me *sometimes*, is that unplugging the dock for 15 seconds, and then plugging it back in, resolves my issues. I have a Toshiba U dock at work and an Anker at home. This technique works on both at times.

    SOLUTION!!

    Had this same problem.  Finally realized that it DIDN'T happen when the Surface Book was connected to the dock while open. If I close the Book and connect to the dock, the USB devices and display intermittently disconnect and reconnect.  If I leave it open, the problems go away completely.  Hope this helps anyone else struggling with this problem...
