My Azure VM got HACKED

My Azure VM hot hacked and all my files and data were changed. The hacker is saying that he can decrypt my data for a fee.
My question is it is possible to restore the state of the VM to a state before the hack?
Should I create a new VM or do I need to create a microsoft azure account altogether to avoid this happening in the future?
