Virtual Desktop loses active application focus windows 10

Using Ctrl-Win-Arrow keys to move between different virtual desktops,  I notice the following behavior:

  1. I am actively editing text in an application ( word.. ) in one virtual desktop,
  2. switch to another desktop using the hotkey combination, do not type anything or select anything else. 
  3. switch back to the initial desktop

The application is no longer "active" and requires me either to use a mouse to re-activate the application for further editing, or use "alt-tab" to select the application.  

it seems when you move between desktops,  the memory of which application was active on that desktop is lost.   it adds lots of irritating small additional steps when moving between many applications

    Did this continue to work, or did it revert to how it was? Do you know which update fixed it?

    You can see all the updates here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12387/windows-10-update-history. You can also go to "Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update -> Learn more" for the link, or "Windows Update -> Advanced options -> View your update history" for a list of what exact updates you recently installed.

    If it was the June 14th update that fixed it for you (KB3163018 for windows 10 version 1511), then it didn't work for me... I'm now downloading the July 12th update to see if it fixed it.

    I'm guessing that it is a bug with Windows Explorer that causes the virtual desktops to lose focus. Each update seems to have "reliability improvements" to Windows Explorer. If one of these updates happens to fix the problem, I'm not sure what else in the update description would cause it to be fixed.

    I had the problem of losing window focus evey minute or two since installing Windows 10 last year. In addition, Windows Explorer spontaneously closed itself at about the same interval. FWIW, my computer is an HP laptop with a 64 bit AMD processor. 

    I regularly tried updating drivers on Microsoft's site, on HP's site and on Synaptics and on various other component manufacturer's sites but no joy. Until yesterday.

    Yesterday (June 21, 2016) I ran Microsoft's built-in upgrade utility again and now my computer runs perfectly -- no more losing focus! Windows Explorer has been open in a widow for over three hours now--no crashes!

    What a terrible bug! Just makes the whole virtual desktop feature almost unusable. For me this is broken almost always and I until I read the comment that restarting windows explorer might help I thought it wasn't even supposed to work... Please fix, this is really terrible.
