Network file sharing not working between Windows 11 & Windows 10

Hello, we have an office where there are several Desks, recently one of the employees upgraded their computers from windows 10 to windows 11, we had all of the computers set up for Local file sharing over the network, now for some reason since the upgrade, the Win11 PC can still see all the other Win10 PC's but none of the Win10 PC's can see or access the Win11 PC, we checked all the settings, and nothings changes, SMB is enabled on all PC's, and running same IP address's, file sharing in the network sharing center is still all turned on.

Any idea what caused this?

Hi James, I have same issue. Try this, working for me.

regedit on Win10

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters

Add key AllowInsecureGuestAuth Dword32 to 1

I have exactly this problem, which started with the latest update to W11. I had spent quite a length of time sorting out networking on a new laptop with two desktop machines, one W10 32-bit and one W10 64-bit, as well as a NAS drive, the old laptop running W7 from which I was transferring data, and a Linux Mint machine. It was all going fine until the latest update to W11. Now my W11 machine is visible on the network and can access the other machines, two more to try yet, but there does not seem to be a problem with the W11 machine accessing shares on the other machines. However, although the W11 machine is visible on the network, none of the other machines can get access to its shares. Does this have anything to do with changes to Control Panel, Nework and Sharing, with functionality no longer available there but redirected to Settings.

Clearly, this needs an urgent fix.

Update on experience yesterday (13th Jan 2023): fired up my W7 machine, and lo and behold it can access the W11 machine. So the W11 machine is visible to all 4 other machines on the network, but is inaccessible to both W10 machines (one 32-bit, one 64-bit) and to a Linux Mint machine, but is accessible to a W7 machine. The other machines can all see and access one-another. Explain that!

I am having similar problems but in trying to map a Win 11 Home laptop to drives on a Win 10 Home desktop. I have a Win 10 Home laptop that has mapped fine to the Desktop for a couple years now. Initially went through the basic steps to no avail. Have now gone down the rabbit hole of recommendations but basically have SMB 1.0 set, services set, Network and Sharing Center settings all set for discovery and file/printer sharing for private and public with private being current but password protection Off in All networks, and of course the shared drives correctly set and using Everyone in share permissions. Was able to get the two laptops to map to each other and of course the Win 10 laptop still maps fine to the Desktop. Just can't get the Win 11 laptop to easily map to the Desktop. Was able to get one drive to map by adding Everyone as a user to the security permissions on one drive but can't get Everyone set for the others because files are in use or otherwise restricted from being modified to allow Everyone. Still trying to figure out that hiccup.
