Issues with Remote Desktop on Windows 11 after Update 22H2

All of our Remote Desktop Users using Windows 11 are having problems connecting to Remote Desktop after installing this update. It just hangs at connecting.

We have found that there is a bug in the Remote Desktop client so that it is only trying the UDP connection and not trying TCP connection. We only allow the port 443 connection through on our firewall.

The only workaround we have found is to make the following change on the Windows 11 computer.

Have to set this value to 1 in the registry for Windows 11 client to work outside the network

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\Client

KEY VALUE - fClientDisableUDP SET TO 1

Otherwise the Remote client just keeps trying to connect via UDP.

This issue did not start until the Windows 11 update was installed over the last couple days.

I would just like to add that if people are having issues with this fix, please ensure that when you set the value to 1 you select Decimal and not Hexadecimal.

Thank you for posting this. However, I searched the entire registry and I don't have that location. I did the initial update for this build in December and had to uninstall it because I couldn't connect to work from home. I got a new notification to install the update, and hoping (foolishly) that the bugs would be fixed, I installed it again. Unless there is another way to turn off UDP, I'm going to have to uninstall this update yet again. I'm seriously thinking of switching to Apple products :(

BTW, the link John DeV posted below is kind of useless.

Same boat. I installed then had to uninstall this version in December. Foolishly thought they'd fix this issue. Now I have to revert to 21H again.

Awesome it worked. Should specify that you need to add the dword

    fClientDisableUDP
