LPD Service stops after CVE-2024-38027

I've already 3 different servers (Win2016-Win2022-Win11) that have LPD Service stopping/crashing after applying July Updates with CVE-2024-38027

Anybody else with same problem? Removing Updates solved the problem but it's not the ideal solution.

Hiya, Is this still considered a workaround until MS release a fix in their monthly updates ?

I have updates paused until 19/08/2024, on the troubled server.

Updates section says "When updates resume , this device will need to get the latest updates before it can be paused again."

So unless there has been a fix released, KB5040430 will install itself again.

So does anyone know if there is a fix yet ?

i am sharing MS solution :

after adjusting roll back and GP it is working for my environment

Running the MSI will install OS Version specific ADMX and ADML files in the %systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions folder.

FYI KIR is mentioned previously here"

    https://download.microsoft.com/download/7ea86987-63da-42b3-8b4a-47ddf4c3fbd3/Windows 10 1809 and Windows Server 2019 KB5040430 240715_21101 Known Issue Rollback.msi

    install KIR

Configure the following KIR Group Policy Settings to “Disabled”

KIRS can be configured in Local policy or at enterprise scale in Domain Policy.

To configure the KIR in Local Group Policy, click on the start menu and type “gpedit.msc” + enter

The default setting for KIR group policy settings is “Not Configured”.

Set the following two KIR group policy settings to disabled.
