AzureVPN client is disconnecting

Hello

Couple weeks ago we have started experiencing problems with Azure Gateway connectivty.

Azure VPN client shows that it is connected:

after 30-60 sec it is reconnecting:

It is happening in a loop and private VPN resources are unavailabile even while "Connected" label is shown.

The problem is reproducable for different users, on different computers and different regions.

We have tried to reset gateway and to update Azure VPN client.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

We understand that your Azure VPN Client connects successfully at first, but it seems to disconnect and reconnect after a short period.

Could you please re-verify if the Point to Site VPN configuration has been properly made or not.

Please use the document to diagnose the Azure VPN Client issues

Please try to uninstall and reinstall the Azure VPN Client, it might resolve the issue.

Please try to use the latest version of the Azure VPN Client and please go through the document for the latest versions of the Azure VPN Client.

You can also try re-generating the VPN client profile configuration file and import it again.

Perform a packet capture on the VPN Gateway and on the client machine and see if you are able to view any in-complete packets or issues.

Kindly let us know if the above helps or you need further assistance on this issue.

Ran packets capture via Azure portal. On the screenshot there is pointed out my computer name

(tried to attach PCAP file but got an error that file extension is not allowed for uploading)

Could you tell us of the location from which the packet capture was conducted within the Azure portal? Specifically, was it executed from the Azure VPN gateway or by connecting to your local server?

Additionally, if you are connecting to the Azure VPN Client using a local device, could you explain how the logs were obtained from the Azure Monitor?

Could you kindly share the log details from your local device?

First of all I should say that VPN came back couple days ago after few weeks of downtime.

Also, I have just figured out that I mixed up screenshots in the origin post.

So, the screenshot with notepad - Azure Client logs.

The screenshot with TBLogAnalyticsWorkspace - its from Azure.

Regarding your questions:

Could you tell us of the location from which the packet capture was conducted within the Azure portal? Specifically, was it executed from the Azure VPN gateway or by connecting to your local server? ------ see screenshot below

Additionally, if you are connecting to the Azure VPN Client using a local device, could you explain how the logs were obtained from the Azure Monitor? ---- via Logs Analytics workspace querying:
AzureDiagnostics | where Category == "GatewayDiagnosticLog" or Category == "TunnelDiagnosticLog" or Category == "RouteDiagnosticLog" or Category == "IKEDiagnosticLog" or Category == "P2SDiagnosticLog" | where Message contains "disc"

Could you kindly share the log details from your local device? ---- VPN does work for last couple days

This frequently happens to me, and the only solution I have found is to restart Windows.

The specific visual symptom is the VPN client saying Connecting every 30 seconds or so, but no packets being received. Disconnecting and reconnecting manually fixes it for about 30 seconds again, but as soon as the VPN is not used for ~5 seconds, data stops being received. Is this the same issue you were having? Did you find a permanent fix?
