Where can i download VB6 IDE from?

Hi
VB6 is so very old, unsupported and lacks the features of the newer VB.NET.
The most recent VB.NET is fully supported and is also free to use (Community edition).
Unless you really have to have VB6, I would recommend you download and install Visual Studio 2022 Community. I do not know where you can get VB6 from.

I need to update an old VB6 application, so really need the IDE for it or a way to upgrade it in VS (any later versions).

Hi

@Anonymous has peovided an answer to your question, but if you need to have your application in a newer version of Visual Studio then be aware that it is not a simple thing to do.
In many cases, just starting from scratch in the newer version is less frustrating and in the end, probably an easier way to upgrade your application.

Also, you would get lots of help from these forums which ever way you choose to go.

After msft switched over from VB6 to VB .NET they included a "VB Upgrade Wizard" in both VS2005 and VS2008, but dropped it with the VS2010 release. This helped with code migration but there was still a great deal of work to do in the editor. As I recall, the 2008 version was an improvement over the 2005 version but either way there's still a great deal of work to be done manually.

You can't really 'upgrade' a VB6 application to .NET.
If you must move to .NET then you should re-write the application.If you need to see the VB6 code there are free VB6 compatible tools that will let you do this.
